Response To Hardy City Council Cruise Show Issues
To the Editor of the Villager Journal in response to the June 23 article written by Tammy Curtis in regards to ‘Hardy City Council Cruise Show Issues’. The Article states that there were ‘problems encountered during the Car Cruise’ and that those problems stemmed from a ‘discord’ between the Hardy Merchants and the city. This is not a true statement. If there is any discord between the Merchants and the City, it has nothing to do with the Car Cruise and is strictly between the individual merchant and the city.
Free WiFi On Main Street Hardy – Anyone?
(Originally Published Jun 16, 2010) With the talk from City Hall about bringing WiFi to Dr. Thompson Park we thought we would repost our original story about Free Wifi.
Why even offer Free WiFi (muniwireless) along Main Street in Hardy Arkansas? The only
thing that retains value is what the local community is willing to invest in terms of their interest and content. If local businesses, organizations, civic groups and schools in the local community, in short, are willing to create local content for the local network, post local ads, if they see the service as part of the fabric of the community. That is part of the idea of Free muniwirelessWiFi, because our idea – would first point all users to the Main Street Hardy Online Resource website. This then helps promote not only the town but the local merchants and community as well. Is this self serving? Not really, its self promoting of our town ! Besides, if we don’t do it, no one else will.
Keeping Our City Safe!
It doesn’t happen often but sometimes even in small cities problems do come up. We are happy to know that our Sharp County Sheriff’s department is on the job making sure our city remains a safe city to its citizens.
On 11/22/2010, the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department and the 3rd Judicial District Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the home of Terry Painter in Hardy. During a search of the premises, Officers found 7 reaction vessels used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine as well as other items of drug paraphernalia. Terry Painter a 53 year old man was arrested for manufacturing of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and possession of drug parphernalia after confessing to cooking methamphetamine 4 times at his residence in the past month. Mr. Painter is currently incarcerated in the Sharp County Jail awaiting filing of formal charges.
A UFO Sighting In Hardy !
This interesting video below was recorded on our very own “FOHA” weather cam that is positioned over our local Lake Sherwood. The camera is used to capture still images for our weather page. However, it also is set to capture motion video when triggered. On the day of April 25, 2010 at 6:28pm, this video was recorded. Is it nothing, or maybe something? Either way it is an interesting clip and we thought is was worth posting for your comments. What is most interesting is how the object makes a sudden almost 90 degree turn at the bottom of its decent. Give us your thoughts below ! One item is very obvious, however in full screen about in the middle you should see another small object suddenly appear and remain stationary which is highlighted in this frozen frame from the video to help you know what your looking for. We suggest you watch the video in FULL SCREEN mode for the best view.
