Maybe its just me, but it seems that at the very least the City Of Hardy Arkanas’ website should, at a  minimum, have a working CONTACT page. I have notified the city..numerous times in the past about this problem on their website and was told it would be fixed.

Today..I once again attempted to request information directly from the City Of Hardy’s website at the www.oldhardytown.net location I still get a submission form error that reads.

Not Found

The requested document was not found on this server.

The sad fact about this is I wanted to simply ask the city about EVENTS for this 4th of July weekend. I have family planning on visting and staying for a few days. According to the official Hardy website…NOTHING IS PLANNED FOR THE 4th OF JULY weekend. I personally could not believe this and thus attempted to contact the city online.

If  TOURIST are not able to get the very basic information about our wonderful town. How then can the business that rely on them survive with such simple problems still happening. Additionally,  even if the site contact option worked..you are unable to even ask a direct simple question.

So with that said… I once again ask you, Mayor Nina Thornton..please FIX the problem. Oh, and if you could, please let us know if something official is planned for the City of Hardy this July 4th weekend. Hopefully, I just overlooked it, however I did double check  even the events over on the Kait8 websites Hardy weather cam page too. Nope nothing listed for the 4th in Hardy there either!

Father’s Day is upon us. Remember to take a little special time to show your father how much you appreciate all the things he has done for you. When did we  officially have a day marked for celebrating Father’s day? Well Sonora Dodd, of Washington, first had the idea of a “father’s day.” She thought of the idea for Father’s Day while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.

Sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. Smart, who was a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state.

After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.

President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father’s Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.

This interesting video below was recorded on our very own “FOHA” weather cam that is positioned over our local Lake Sherwood. The camera is used to capture still images for our weather page. However, it also is set to capture motion video when triggered. On the day of April 25, 2010 at 6:28pm, this video was recorded. Is it nothing, or maybe something? Either way it is an interesting clip and we thought is was worth posting for your comments. What is most interesting is how the object makes a sudden almost 90 degree turn at the bottom of its decent. Give us your thoughts below ! One item is very obvious, however in full screen about in the middle you should see another small object suddenly appear and remain stationary which is highlighted in this frozen frame from the video to help you know what your looking for. We suggest you watch the video in FULL SCREEN mode for the best view.

Today in Hardy at the Old Hardy Gym during a local Bazaar  they were asking for participants of women who were at least 18 and older to be part of a unique study benefiting breast cancer research.

This is put on by Spit for the Cure which is a research study currently lef by Martha Phillips, Ph.D. and conducted at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health and Winthrop P. Rockfeller Cancer Institute at UAMS.

DNA samples and answers from the questionnaire will be used to create a Spit For The Curebank of information for future studies. Each participants personal identification will be protected through the use of a unique ID. Researchers will access the samples and data to address specific questions related to the factors affecting breast cancer.

Recruitment of participants during events throughout the state will put Arkansas women in the forefront in the fight  against breast cancer.
