As can be seen, this idea is not a new one, nor does it belong to City Hall. The mayor said that she would take the idea to the council, which never happened, and talk about it.

Here it is now almost a year later, the mayor has taken the idea as hers and has got a deal with Centurylink...good for her! Congratulations. You've scoffed off with another good idea that others had before you and taken it for your very own.

mayor, if you really want to be a part of your Main Street, then you need to participate with it, not steal its thunder. I'd ask a couple of questions and await your 'yes' answers on your personal blog since answering questions on this forum seems to be beneath you (even though we know you read this site).

1. What will be provided?
2. How will it be provided?
3. How will you present it to the people? Merchants and visitors?
4. What is your reasoning behind this endeavorment?
5. Did you even discuss this with anyone, or is this your brainchild that you kept to yourself till it hatched?

Keep up the good work though...maybe one day, you will include your businesses in business and tourism decisions that effect Main Street.

One last question...are businesses that do not sell anything, but rather give their merchandise away, are they classified as businesses and do they have to have business liscences? Just wondering about our new 'charity' business.

Centurylink has no current interest in offering free wifi. We have communicated with them. That is why Friends Of Hardy Arkansas wish to provide this service along Main Street. We have covered the cost for the hardware but are trying to get a sponsor to cover the minimal cost of two DSL lines. Anyone willing to sponsor please feel free to contact us on this site!!!

This would be a great place where Centurylink could help promote Hardy and their companies products.

I have friends/family who live abroad ( Europe), and we stay in touch mostly through the internet. It's a way of life, and would certainly enhance what Hardy has to offer, and show case our business's. Free wifi is a no brainer - it's attractive to people looking for fun and sun, but who need to stay in touch with business partners - family members. Go for it !!

The Mayor doesn't seem to believe in our abilities. We are told that the merchants need to show action, not talk it, and we Friends Of Hardy Arkansas are showing we care about Hardy. Lets all hope the City of Hardy, the Mayor, and the City Council will listen and allow Hardy to move forward in a positive direction.

When I asked her for her opionion in regards to our FREE WIFI for Main Street Area...and pointed out another small town in another state..her response to me was "Maybe this is why california is broke and we're not" that is not a responsible answer !

This idea is one that FOHA (Friends Of Hardy Arkansas) has been working towards for a couple of months now. There is nobody paying us. We are doing this work for free. Making calls to telecom's, Little Rock, local district offices. FOHA has been working behind the scenes to bring new services and creative ways of doing business to life. We are even willing to share our abilities and resources with the City so that THEY can take the credit. We have had our ideas turned down, or just ignored. FOHA is not some flybynight group, its a group of people who own businesses, manage businesses, have had jobs working for large corporations, serve on non-profit boards, chambers of commerces and live in or around Hardy Arkansas or love Hardy Arkansas. The dismissive attitudes that FOHA has received is rude, inconsiderate, childish and immature. Its time that our community truely excercise 'Unity in the Community' as much as FOHA has demonstrated. To date FOHA has created t-shirts, window decals, a website, ad and marketing campaigns and has sponsored 1 free business meeting, spent countless hours creating a website that is hard to rival in this area, helped in community service projects and supported anyone who needs and asks for help. FOHA spends its money in Hardy Arkansas in its shops and resturants. We have written articles and reviews of stores and those same eateries. Anyway...to those that appreciate what we have done...you're welcome, to those that don't appreciate all the hard work...we're sorry you don't. I would ask 'Why Not? Sorry, this has become a rant. I just get really annoyed when others who do less, criticize and complain the most.

But, as always...We Appreciate You.

I stop in Hardy alot and would love to be able to check my email or surf the web on my break. I know a few of the stores have access, but I like to rest in the park on main street. Plus I have been wanting to try out my new Ipad !
