 Spring Gun & Knife Show- March 24th – 25th

GREAT EVENT! BE SURE AND MARK YOUR CALENDARS. You’ll be able to buy, sell or trade new guns, old guns, memorabilia and more during this big annual Spring Gun and Knife Show the second Saturday and Sunday in March in the Historic Hardy Gym. This is a good time to see not only the newest guns and knives available but also old guns, Civil War memorabilia, decoys and calls. Knives of all shapes and sizes will be for sale. Knife sharpening will also be offered. Food vendors will be on site both days for refreshments.The show, sponsored by Main Street of Hardy Inc. will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, The Historic Hardy Gym is located at 203 School Street.

 Annual Spring Vol Fire Department Auction & Breakfast- April 21st

Every spring the Hardy Volunteer Firemen gather to serve a home cooked breakfast at a price that can’t be beat. They warm you up starting at 7:00 am with great coffee and a breakfast that will carry you through the day. The annual auction starts @ 10:00 and includes a dukes mixture of items. Every single cent that is made on this event goes to better the Hardy Volunteer Fire Department to keep the men safe as they protect our city and its citizens.  Annual Spring River Car Cruise “Cruisin Hardy”-Friday nite June 1st

Vintage and Antique Car owners will be cruisin’ their classic dreams into Hardy around 5pm. Cruisers will park in Loberg Park where they will enjoy a cook out provided by the Advertising and Promotions Commission. Everyone is welcome to come stroll down the rows of highly polished, proudly owned cars. Come prepared to dance to the music that will be provided by a local band. Last year the streets were still hoppin’ at 8 p.m. Every generation came to enjoy the cruise and the shops on Main Street were open for business as well. Be there or be square.  The 2012 Outdoor Sportsmen’s Show/Canoe Races- June 9th-10th

 The 2012 Outdoor Sportsmen’s Show will be back and bigger than last year if that is possible. The Hardy Volunteer Fire Department will put on this event with sponsorship from local entities. Loberg Park will be filled from Daylight to Dusk on this Saturday and Sunday with Sporting Equipment featuring outdoor sports such as fishing, hunting, camping, boating, gunning, archery etc….. Music, Food,Competitions, Demonstrations, and Hot July Deals are all in the plan.ONLY 162 SHOPPING DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS.

 Spring River Art Gallery Annual Art Show- Sept. 1st-16th

The Spring River Artists Guild Art Show will be on display for viewing at the Spring River Gallery, 112B Main Street (second floor) in Hardy. Everyone is invited to view the show of creative works by regional artists. There will be a reception in the Gallery on Sunday, September 11, 2pm to 3:30 pm. Awards will be given at 3pm. These awards include multiple first, second, and third places, best of show and people’s choice. Main Street of Hardy Inc. presents the 4th annual Junk-n-Jam extravaganza. Loberg Park is the place to be on Saturday September 3rd if you want to buy, sell, or trade. Antiques, Crafts, Flea Market Goods, and just about anything as long as it is legal and moral. Great Food and Music will be some of the highlights of the day. This event starts at 8am and goes til 5 pm. RAIN OR SHINE. Spaces are $15.00 which gets you 20 feet of frontage along the walking trail and various depths depending on the side of the trail you prefer. First come first served the day of the event. Set up begins at 7am and vendors should be set up by 8am. Vendors must furnish their own tables, chairs, canopies, etc. so come self sufficient and bring your great wares to sell at this well attended event. No explicitly adult or illegal items. NOW A GROUP OF MERCHANTS HAVE ENCOURAGED LOCAL RESIDENTS TO JOIN IN ON THE TRADE THAT CAN BE GENERATED BY TOURIST, AND HAVE BEGUN A HEAVENLY YARD SALE THAT COVERS THE 150 MILES OF THE ROUTE. OUR AREA IS INCLUDED IN THIS ROUTE AND YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE WITH THE OTHER COUNTIES.  Annual Hardy Homesteaders Day- October 6th

Re-live the experiences of those rugged pioneers who settled the Arkansas Ozarks as The Hardy Homesteaders celebrate their 20th annual Homesteaders Day. Music, rides, and a dress contest, will entertain visitors. Don’t forget to bring your favorite box turtle for the exciting Terrapin Races. The event will be held the 1st Saturday in October, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Loberg Park, just off Main Street.

 Homesteaders Day provides a brief glimpse into the lives of our Ozark ancestors through personal historical interpretation and re-enactment of routine daily activities particular to the pioneers and their families that settled in the Hardy area. Visitors will see character portrayals of the tradesmen, sutlers, craftspeople and ordinary folk that made up area communities, as well as the sights, sounds, and smells of an era all but forgotten and unknown to younger generations, whose only exposure may come in the form of history books or movies.

Live music, wagon rides, the ever popular Terrapin Races, a turn on the bucking barrel, dancing, and an old fashioned dress contest, are just a sampling of the fun times to be had. Visitors can register at the front gate for door-prizes which include a hand stitched quilt, and drawings throughout the day. Demonstrations will include:

 Hardy Turtle Island Annual Pow Wow- Oct. 5th-6th-7th

3 days of traditional Native American events including a princess contest will be the venue for this years event. The Turtle Island Native American Association of Arkansas will celebrate in fine Native American tradition on the banks of the clear waters of the Srping River in Loberg Park. The Loberg Park area was the traditional camping grounds for the Native American summer soltice. The public is welcome and encouraged to come and learn the ways of the forefathers. All dancers and drummers welcome. There will be a trading area where beautiful arts and crafts will be available for purchase. Lacie will be serving up that famous mouth watering frybread.

Bring your lawn chais or blankets and enjoy the dancing. Aztec Dancers: Quetzalcoatl. There will be different styles of dance so you will be able to participate. There will be special dances for the children.

 NEAVF Volkswagen Festival- October 20th

We are proud to boast that Loberg Park in Historic Hardy is the new location for the 11th Annual NEAVF Volks-Folks Car Show. Saturday will come in with a beep beep and a flash when the Volks Folks roll into town for a full blown, all out, car show and swap meet. The Volkswagen show benefits the American Cancer Society.  Arts Crafts Collectibles and Flea Market- October 20th

Loberg Park will be the setting for the Annual Fall Festival. Set in the middle of all the other events, vendors will offer many handcrafted items as well as anything goes flea market. All items must be legal and moral. Something for everyone. Last year was a big success and this year it is shaping up to be a nice sized event.  Mountain Man Rendezvous- October 18th-19th-20th-21st

Full encampment. Traders set up shop and hawk wares from black powder rifles to Lewis and Clark beads, tomahawks, moccasins, knives, tanned leather, furs and more. Mountain man Music, Blacksmithing, Archery and possible black powder shoot. Pre 1840 Event with primitive camping. Tee Pee’s and period Mountain lodging. Possible Cannon displays. Period demonstrations on site. Located in Loberg Park, this three day event is admission free and open to the public. There is plenty of free parking. This is a kid friendly event. In the early 1800s, as beaver hats were becoming all the rage back East and across Europe, adventurers made out for the largely unexplored, empty (of whites, at least) and beaver-plentiful American West. These mountain men and trappers would spend all fall and winter hunting beaver and preparing the hides. Spring and summer were reserved for the 1,000-mile (one-way) journey to St. Louis where they could sell their furs. But then in 1824, a St. Louis trading company came up with a novel idea: instead of the trappers coming to them, they, along with supplies, would go to their trappers. The first rendezvous was held in 1825 near the present southern Wyoming town of Burntfork.Before the mountain man/trapper life died (starting in the late 1830s, beaver hats were replaced by silk ones in fashionable circles), a total of 16 rendezvous were held, one a year from 1825 through 1840. Ten of these 16 were in Wyoming. Each was attended by hundreds of fur trappers and traders, mountain men, thousands of Native Americans and the occasional missionary or two. There’d be socializing, contests of skill (tomahawk throws, shooting, skinning), trading, tall tales told, and more than a little drinking. These lasted anywhere from weeks to months.

 Trail of Terror- Saturday October 27th

Over 1000 kids and parents attended the 2011 Trail of Terror. All dressed up and accompanied by proud parents the kids loaded up on candy and made a visit to the pumpkin patch to decorate a pint size pumpkin. Hope to see you this year. Sign up for a free booth space early to assure the best spot. Lots of fun things to see and great candy to boot. Spooky fun for the kids. Parents dress up too and escort your little goblins around the trail while gathering all kinds of great treats. All for free. Don’t be scared, it’s only a trail of terror!

To set up a booth call the Hardy City Hall to register. Safe and fun is the name of this game. We are having this event on the 27th which is a Saturday. You will be able to set up your booth a couple of days early. Pumpkin patch again this year. So come rain or not, this event will be on GO for all those little ghosts and goblins.

 Hardy Christmas Parade- December 8th

This years Christmas Parade will continue with the tradition of a good time and lots of entertainment. A Norman Rockwell Christmas is the theme. Come rain or shine or hopefully snow, the Parade starts at the City Hall @124 Woodland Hills Road promptly at 11 a.m. and continues down Historic Hardys’ Main Street and then turns right into the drive through at Simmons Bank. This is an extremely popular event with entrants numbering around 100. A sure DON”T MISS IT event. Call and sign up early. There are prizes and points are awarded for sticking to the theme.
