Air Evac – A Life Saving Program

On Tuesday Sept. 7th a representative from Air Evac Lifetime made a presentation to the Hardy City Council. His presentation was about an easy and optional way for citizens to pay for the Air Evac Lifeteam Membership. The idea basically would add a line item fee of $5.00 per month to your water bill. The total yearly fee is $60 with this payment plan. It can be added or cancelled at anytime. His wish was for the council to discuss it in more detail and come back to him with any questions in regards to this payment program option. The idea is to simply make the program as accessible as possible. Even without this form of membership payment the program is a excellent one and you are able to pay for membership directly.

What exactly is Air Evac and benefits of membership?

Air Evac Lifeteam is committed to providing increased access to emergency trauma care to ruralAmericans. In a life- or limb-threatening medical emergency, a successful patient recovery often depends on the amount of time it takes to deliver that patient to the emergency room. Approximately 90% of Air Evac’s patient transports originate from a rural area as defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Air Evac Lifeteam believes that those who choose a rural way of life should have the same benefits when it comes to emergency care as those who choose to live in a metropolitan community.

Membership provides prepaid protection against all of Air Evac Lifeteam’s transport costs that exceed any insurance or medical benefits you may have.

Although you do not have to be a member to use the air ambulance service, membership offers several benefits:

• As a member, Air Evac Lifeteam will work on your behalf with your insurance company to secure payment for its flight. For all Air Evac Lifeteam transport costs that exceed any insurance or medical benefits you may have, the company will waive all costs not covered by your insurance or benefits.
• Memberships are valid in all Air Evac Lifeteam service areas so members are covered while traveling. Ninety mutually supporting bases are located across 14 states within the United States.
• Becoming an Air Evac Lifeteam member is a good way to support the health care needs of your community. The company’s membership base helps it operate in rural areas where having a quick response time to critical medical situations can save lives. If not for its members, Air Evac Lifeteam would be challenged to provide its life saving service in many of its outlying communities.
